Gwyneth Kate Paltrow is in early stages of brittle bone disease - Osteoporosis

HOLLYWOOD actress Gwyneth Paltrow is one of the most health conscious
celebs, but
is suffering from a brittle bone disease Osteoporosis which
typically effects
older women. Gwyneth Paltrow was diagnosed with the
disease after she broke her leg.
The 37 year old actress is known for her
extreme health regimes and the punishing
diets may have led to her being diagnosed with the condition, reported Daily Mail online.

“My doctors tested my vitamin D levels, which turned out to be the lowest
thing they had ever seen (not a good thing)” Paltrow writes on her Internet
newsletter Goop.
She said she was put on prescription strength vitamin D
and told to spend more time
in the sun.

Osteoporosis can be triggered by a lack of calcium and excessive exercise.
She has followed a
macrobiotic diet which is popular among celebrities for
11 years and exercises up to three
hours a day.
Some nutritionists believe her diet was also to blame for her brittle bone
problem.
"A macrobiotic diet is often lower in protein than a diet that
includes dairy foods and
meat so if she's doing a lot of exercise but not
getting enough protein, she's not getting
enough to build her bones either"
Sydney nutritionist Sharon Natoli said.
